About Us

The Austin Duathletes was Founded in 2004 and has been involved in the Austin community for a little over 10 years now.  The mission of the Austin Duathletes has been to support the running and cycling communities of central Texas, promote the sport of duathlon, to provide fun, athletic events that are open to the public, and to donate to local and national charities. The Austin Duathletes is a registered non-profit corporation in the state of Texas, but we depend on our members and sponsors for support to continue.

This year, we’re continuing with our successful club bike ride, The Tour de Meat.  With distances up to a metric century (61 miles, give or take), the route will meander East from downtown Austin on the new bike superhighway (Avoiding traffic safely)  where we will turn around and head back, through quiet roads and farms country, and ending (as the name suggests) with barbecue from one of the most famous barbecue joints in Texas (which means the world). The next date for this ride will be July 17th, 2016  check back for registration or on our facebook page look for and like the Austin Duathletes page.

We will also put on 3 of our infamous “pub runs,” which have been emulated throughout central Texas in many flattering incarnations, including our “12 Bars of Xmas,” which many refer to as the Red Dress Run (because the women AND men all wear red dresses!) in December.  The Douchebag Run, named for our illustrious founder (me), is at the end of August every year.

And there will be many other fun things to do with the Austin Duathletes this year, like our annual happy hour with the Austin Runners Club, events with all of our amazing sponsors, and some surprises.

So, please keep an eye on this space, or on our Facebook page, for more announcements in the coming weeks. And don't forget to follow us on Twitter! We're looking forward to seeing you out there. Come run, ride, and run with us!
